 Summer\n\nThe summer of twenty twenty is now past \n\nDays weeks and months in limbo \n\nI wonder has it gone by too fast  \n\nAs summers tend to do \n\nOr has it been interminably long \n\n\u201cI can\u2019t wait for this year to be gone\u201d \n\nNo friends to hug no laughing out loud \n\nNo singing no dancing no skipping \n\nMasked, sanitized, shielded, gloved \n\nCarefully breathing in and out \n\nWe softly spoke of summers past  \n\nBound within our six foot circles in the park \n\nThe sun still curved across the sky \n\nThe earth spun in its orbit \n\nThe moon still did its stealthy dance  \n\nAnd comet Neowise streaked \n\nAcross the sequined sky \n\nThe cycle of seasons stayed unchanged \n\nThe flowers still bloomed and trees still fruited \n\nThe birds still built their nests in nooks  \n\nNo boundaries stopped the wild things \n\nNo quarantines in their migrations \n\nFree to roam through the city \n\nOblivious to our six foot circles in the park<\/em><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fall \n\nLighting struck twelve thousand times \n\nThere\u2019s smoke and toxins in the air  \n\nHow quick the summer\u2019s golden light \n\nHas turned to ash raining from above \n\nNow we step out on streets empty and still \n\nWhile Mars is low on the horizon \n\nLeaves pirouette and softly glide \n\nIt\u2019s quiet now there\u2019s no hustle \n\nCome gently, softly, winter rain \n\nSlowly wash out the fog \n\nCreep out old year like a nightmare fade \n\nUncurl unfurl the new year  \n\nBreak out ... breathe in\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/em><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
